Tablelands Accommodation & Restaurant

Marc and Katrina Tweedie

Even though Marc and Katrina wanted some time away from the hussel and bussel and be able to bring their pets Misty and Flip, they also needed some time out for themselves as well.

Opting to dine in the restaurant while staying at Chilverton Cottages they had a much needed break from all work, even the hum drum of cooking and cleaning.  This is a job most of us just take for granted and automaticly do as we have to do it every day.  Well, when you check into this property you have the choice of doing it yourself yet again or just making the most of your break and getting someone else to do it for you.

You will be totally relaxed as you sit back with a glass of fine wine and be waited on while you unwind in the romantic ambience of the candlelit Chilverton Restaurant.

Mungalli Creek Dairy

Maya Joy and John Hall

Maya and John took the long weekend break to come and visit with their friends from Mungalli Creek Dairy.  Booking into the Platypus Cottage on the banks of the Millstream River they made the most of what the property has to offer.  Dining, entertainment and relaxation.

After spending the day visiting and sight seeing they made their way to the games room for a quick drink and a game of pool before their guests arrived to dine in the elegance of the Chilverton Restaurant.  After an evening with good wine, food and friends they made their way back to their cottage to relax in the spa bath and chill out in front of a movie.

Look forward to catching up with you again when you come up again.

Cottages on the River

Marc, Katrina, Flop & Misty Tweedie

Marc, Katrina, Flop and Misty made the great escape from reality and checked into the Platypus Cottage on the banks of the Millstream River, just on the outskirts of Ravenshoe.  Pet friendly is really what we are about.  Flop and Misty were so happy not to have to stay at home alone or worse still be sent to the cat jail where they would not be able to understand what they had done to deserve that sort of treatment.

They were happy enough to walk the property on their leads and laze about the cottage for the day and then just totally relax in front of the fire for the evening hoping that someone would be kind enough to lite it for them. They say ‘it’s a dogs life’ but I sure believe it is a cat’s life especially when you are a cat that is lucky enough to come and stay at Chilverton Cottages. We lookforward to welcoming them back soon.

Pet Friendly Accommodation

Tim, Cindy, Kye & Henry Eagle

Tim and Cindy were in great need of a get away.  With a business to run, a dog to look after and now a new baby what a juggling act it is for them.  For their getaway they checked into Chilverton Cottages & Fine Dining with the whole gang.  Children are not usually catered for but an  exception was made as Kye is only 8 weeks old and so unable to get up to much mischief.  He and Henry were very well behaved indeed.

Dining in the restaurant for the evening meals and then for breakfast really gave Cindy a break from the normal daily chores and gave her a little rnr.  Sight seeing during the day and unwinding in front of the tele at night was what they needed to enjoy the break.

We look forward to seeing you again in the future for another get away maybe lucky enough to snag a cottage on the river next time.  Have to be quick for those though.

Tablelands Accommodation

Chris Kirk, Carolina Chilli-Kirk, Amber & Roger Kirk

Chris, Maria, Amber and Roger had an enjoyable break from it all when they checked into Chilverton Cottages.  Needing to escape from it all they were happy to find that is what we offer here. Breakfast packs and bbq packs were the route they took and pre ordered the packs before they arrived to make sure the supplies were on hand.

Roger and the beautiful Amber were a treat.  Amber being an adopted new comer to the family probably cannot believe that she has fallen into the hands of such a wonderful and loving family.  She will settle in beautifully given a bit of time.

This is what Chris had to say about Chilverton Cottages & Fine Dining.

Hi Gwen,Thanks for your email. I can’t think of anything else we needed for our stay. The place was pretty much perfect for what we wanted, which was to get away from tv, internet, traffic etc for a few nights, so all boxes ticked. The cottage was fantastic, a definite cut above other B&B type places we’ve stayed at. Will definitely be back at some point. Thanks Chris

Tablelands Accommodation

Alex, Tracey & Jess

Tracey, Alex and Jess had a getaway from all of the stress of the normal work week and heading to the far side of the Atherton Tablelands checked into the Platypus Cottage and Chilverton Cottages.

Alex was a wizz at keeping the fire going and kept it stocked up for Tracey and Jess to stay snug as bugs in the cottage.

Jess enjoyed taking long walks around the property and sniffing and smelling all of the aromas that are here.

While Tracey was happy to sit back with a book or just curl up and watch a movie while  totally relaxing from the working world for a couple of days.  Look forward to seeing you all again in the futrue.

Pet Friendly Accommodation

Tracey, Jason and Loki

Jason, Tracey and Loki had a couple of days RnR away from Townsville before Jason gets shipped out.  What a long stint he has to go away for.  They were looking for a hide away to just relax from the rat race and that is just what they found.  Being able to bring Loki was a double bonus for them.

Loki, or as I like to call him, Hoodini, made a break as soon as he could from the confines of the balcony and made his way to the big house (yeah that is where the good stuff is kept, the kitchen and restaurant).  He slipped in through the kitty door and totally made himself at home.  We came home to find him hanging out lazing on the lounge room floor.  It truely is a dogs life.  He was happy to hang out with us until mum and dad came home.  We are always happy to puppy sit if our guests want to head somewhere that the pets are not welcome.  We wish Jason & Tracey all the best foar the future and hopefully we will see them again if they get up this way again.

Last Minute

Angus and Gai

Angus and Gai were on a break away from Townsville to visit Angus’s mum in Cairns.  Deciding to take the inland road back  home instead of the coast for a scienic break they stumbled upon Chilverton Cottages & Fine Dining.  Due to a cancellation that day they were fortunate enough to be able to snag some accommodation.

Deciding to make the most of it they arrived early enough to be able to place an order for their evening meal in the restaurant and so were able to sit on the balcony on the accommodation and gaze out upon the scenery while sipping on a chilled bottle of wine.

What a great way to have a break half way between Cairns and Townsville.  Look forward to catching up with you two again in the future.

Eagles Nest Animal Rehab Centre

Sera, Rosa and Friend

Sera needed a break to escape to chillax and just kick back for a couple of days and enjoy the company of her two wonderful companions.  She had been working hard at the Eagles’ Nest animal hospital and rehabilitation centre on the outskirts of Ravenshoe.  Many folks are aware of this wonderful property and a lot of wild animals have had the chance to recoup and get back on track so they can be released back into the wild.

Sera was helping out while Harry was out of action for a few weeks with an operation that he had to have. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is up and running at full speed again soon as he is a much needed presence at his centre.  We hope to see you again Sera when you are up this way helping out and we wish you all the best of luck in your journeys and working travels in Australia.

Pet Friendly Accommodation

Tracey, Peter, Dakota and Chino

Tracey and Peter had to make the trip from Airlie Beach to Ravenshoe for a very sad affair.  Tracey had to say farwell to her best friend Terase.  They had a very emotional stay with us here at Chilverton Cottages & Fine Dining.  Being able to bring their best friends Dakota & Chino with them helped a lot as they were able to take refuge with them at the end of each long, tearful day.

Dakota and Chino were a joy to have here and were no problem at all.  After spending the day with them puppy sitting while mum and dad were away I fell in love with them and wanted them to stay longer.  No wonder Tracey and Peter did not want to leave them behind.

We hope the pain is starting to ease for you Tracey.  This is a thing that you learn to live with but never get over as I am so aware as I went through the same thing 6 months ago when I had to say goodbye to my beloved friend of almost 35 years.  Keep the memories alive and happy which is what they would have wanted.
